Everyone is welcome to join us on Sunday mornings as we congregate and celebrate the life of Jesus. We start the service with praise and worship which is then followed by a message from our pastor and sometimes guest speakers. Join us afterwards for tea and fellowship.
At the same time, we have a kids’ church with lessons specially created for their growing minds.
Sundays are a wonderful opportunity to worship God together and encourage one another in the Christian faith. Our church is made up of believers from different denominations who identify with the truth of God’s Word. We love each other and want to follow Christ’s example by living in a close relationship with the Father and demonstrating His character to those who don’t yet know Him. We seek a greater manifestation of God’s presence as we look forward to Jesus’ glorious return.
In this service Steven Grewar talks about Romans 8: 1 ” There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
Our newsletter is published electronically on a monthly basis. In it you’ll find a short message from the leadership and an overview of what’s happening this month here at WCF.
We gather on Friday mornings from 07:00 til 08:00 AM at the church to pray for the
Fellowship, our town and nation, the lost, and one another’s personal needs.
There are several home cells and a ladies’ group that meet during the week to encourage and build one another up in the faith in a less formal setting.
Teaching courses will be presented on Tuesday evenings from 18:30 – 20:00 from time to time. Everyone is welcome. Costs, if any, will be announced ahead of time.
We’ve seen many situations turned around through the power of prayer. Please pass your prayer requests through Linda Morley who leads our team of intercessory prayer warriors via a confidential WhatsApp prayer group.
It’s been said that ‘the family who prays together stays together’. As brothers and sisters in Christ here in Wilderness, we gather for one hour on Friday mornings at 07:00 am at the church to pray for one another and the harvest field.
‘You won’t get a second chance to make a good first impression.’ The meet and greet team exercises a vital role in expressing God’s love with a warm welcome to newcomers and also to our ‘regulars’.
Kids’ Church is a vital component of the church, NOT to keep them out of the adults’ meeting, but because teaching a child the right way from an early age, keeps them safe later in life.
An opportunity for bonding and encouraging one another and also for outreach, please speak to Desmond about committing to this ministry to the men from your neighbourhood – both ‘lost’ and ‘found’ – by inviting men to get together, assisting in hospitality and helping in other ways at events.
Our ladies meet once a month on a Saturday afternoon where we get to know and catch up with one another over tea/coffee and a light snack, and we hear from a speaker. Volunteers help with setup at the venue beforehand and acting as hostesses at the meetings
Our pastor Chris Smit organises several mission trips to certain farms in Willowmore and also to Tylden each year. God’s love is demonstrated in the most tangible ways by putting our practical skills and abilities to good use. If you’d like to get involved, please speak to Chris Smit. Regular local outreaches and special missions are on the cards.
Home cells are home-based small groups that meet together with the goal of encouraging and building one another up in the faith. We’re aiming to establish at least one home cell in Sedgefield, and another in George and in other places outside Wilderness as the need grows.
There’s plenty of scope to expand on our audio-visual work in preparation for and during meetings. If you know anything about, or have a passion for computers, presentation software and graphics, sound engineering etc., please speak to Stephen.
The praise and worship team is a tight-knit group, but not a closed one. Please speak to Stephen or Carol if you’re a worshipper with a strong desire to lead God’s people in praise and worship.
There are always odd-jobs and larger projects to be done. Brick laying, plumbing, electrics, plastering, glazing, painting … if you’re skilled and able to make yourself available (whether on weekdays or only on weekends), please speak to George or Tony.
The most regular activities in the kitchen revolve around tea and coffee after Sunday morning meetings when teams of volunteers help to serve, wash, dry and clear the cups and saucers. Please let Heidi know if you’d like to take a spot on the roster; or if you’d like to lead or help in a catering team when the need arises.
Whether you’re a landscape gardener or just a gardening enthusiast with green fingers, Tony, George and Marnix would love to have a chat with you!
